CANTAR is a not-for-profit community choir that has been operating for 24 years. It takes its name from the Spanish word, "cantar" which means "to sing". CANTAR is proud to provide support and friendship to women of all ages.

CANTAR is for its members and for its audiences. The Choir has participated in many community events and in past years has also arranged fundraising events, such as the flood relief concerts. These events are often in co-operation with The Orange Male Voice Choir. CANTAR provides free entertainment for local Aged Care facilities. The value of the mental stimulation of these concerts to the health and wellbeing of the residents cannot be under-estimated. It also performs at Christimas Carol events. Most recently, CANTAR Community Choir was involved in the "Welcome to Orange" event organised by Orange City Council and the 24 Hour Marathon event to raise funds for thr new Conservatorium.

CANTAR collects fees, on a term-by-term basis, from members in order to pay for the administration costs associated with the running of the choir. Costs include musical directors' and accompanist fees, rehearsal venue rental, insurances and costs associated with sourcing music.
